This year, on July 5th, we’re not just attending; we’re stepping into the spotlight as celebrity judges for the grand parade. Shaun, can you tell us more about what we’ll be doing?

“Absolutely, Amber! This year, we’ll have the unique honor of judging the parade presentations. We’ll be evaluating each float, band, and performer, deciding who meets the high standards of the Championship presentations. It’s a huge responsibility, but also an incredible opportunity to see the parade from a new perspective,” Shaun explains, his excitement palpable.

A Parade Like No Other

The parade is a spectacular event, showcasing the creativity and dedication of its participants. This year, it’s being presented by Suncor, and it promises to be more magnificent than ever. Chris adds, “I’m really looking forward to it. I had the honor of being the parade marshal at the Calgary Stampede a few years ago. It was an unforgettable experience, seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of all the fans up close. This year, as a judge, it will be fascinating to see the hard work and passion that goes into each presentation.”

For us, being part of Heartland means bringing our characters to life in front of the cameras, often without the immediate feedback of a live audience. The Calgary Stampede offers a rare chance to connect with fans in real-time, experiencing their energy and enthusiasm firsthand. It’s a chance to step out of our comfort zones and embrace a new challenge together.

“Interacting with fans up close and personal was a lot of fun,” says Shaun. “It’s a completely different experience from what we’re used to on set. The live atmosphere, the crowd’s energy, and the vibrant displays all around make it a truly special event.”
